Car owners often like to tweak a few features of their vehicle to suit their needs or to enhance its appearance and output. However, this pub owner’s passion to modify his car has gone on for seven long years. And, he isn’t quite done yet. The Sun reports that a pub landlord in the UK has spent close to 1 lakh pounds in modifying his Ford Focus RS, which he bought in 2011 for 27000 pounds. He has spent the last seven years re-knitting and modifying the car, which has a 2.5 litre engine. Now, he has stopped using it daily. Interestingly, the amount Richard Fox, 33, spent in modifying his Ford Focus is enough to buy three brand new models (which usually sell at 30000 pounds)!

Fox runs the Yardbridge Inn, in Sandown, Isle of Wight. He has reportedly completely modified the exterior and interior of the car. Thus far, Fox has replaced the seats, bonnet, lights, tyres, license plate, doors, steering wheel and panels including the door panels and has also added stickers, a sound system, wide wheel arches, new lights including interior lights, paintwork and rebuilt the engine, reports the Daily Mirror. Thanks to his modifications, the car can now keep up with supercars like Ferraris – and he’s plotting to 1,000bhp makeover in the future. After the day’s work, Fox usually works on the car at night in his garage and is often helped by his friends. He says that it is an “expensive” hobby that has naturally evolved with time.

The pub owner reveals that the Ford Focus was his everyday car until about four years ago. “I stopped driving it from A to B because of the horsepower,” he reveals. He says that for him, it is not just a modified car, but it is art on wheels. Not surprisingly, Fox reveals that he has always loved Fords and wanted to buy a really fast one. “The great thing is with Ford, young lads can actually buy one. It’s not a Lamborghini, it is something people can afford. “But I’m not done, there is more coming. I’ve got some sponsors now and I plan on doing a lot more to the car,” he has been quoted saying in the Mirror. People often tell Fox that he might not get his money back on this, but Fox signs off by saying that for him, this is not about money. It is a labour of love.
