In order to observe the reconstruction works at Kedarnath, a group of persons from various fields will be flagged off by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Dehradun on February 9 as part of the Kedarnath reconstruction, expedition 2018. The Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh chaired a meeting with various officials concerned here at the secretariat on Monday, regarding preparations for this expedition. It was stated in the meeting that the expedition group will consist of 51 persons from various fields. They will be Uttarakhand natives from the fields of administration, engineering, geology, environment, media and other spheres. The aim of the expedition is to observe the reconstruction works at the site.
They will also seek information about the preparations for the pilgrimage. Based on the suggestions made by the experts in this group, if needed, improvement or changes will be made in the reconstruction works being undertaken at a brisk pace at present, said the Chief Secretary. This group will reach Sitapur on the evening of February 9. On February 10, the group will reach Gaurikund from Sonprayag and then trek to Kedarnath. On February 11, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will visit the construction work sites in Kedarnath.
He will view the work underway in all the five construction work projects launched earlier by the prime minister Narendra Modi.
He also talk to and boost the morale of labourers, engineers and officials continuing work here despite snowfall. Apart from flagging in the expedition here, the Chief Minister will also attend a tree plantation programme to be held at Rambada in memory of those killed in the 2013 disaster.
It is pertinent to mention here that the State Government is focusing on getting the reconstruction and other works completed on time in Kedarnath for the pilgrimage season this year. Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Secretary had visited Kedarnath along with officials inspected the progress of various works.
The Garhwal commissioner Dilip Javalkar, secretaries Radhika Jha, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering principal colonel Ajay Kothiyal and inspector general Sanjay Gunjyal among others were also present in the meeting chaired by the chief secretary here on Monday.
