CLEVELAND (AP) — A medical examiner hasn't been able to determine what caused the death of a 5-year-old boy who was found buried in the backyard of his Cleveland home.
The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County Medical Examiner's Office said Monday that the death of Jordan Rodriguez has been ruled a homicide "by unspecified means."
Authorities following a tip found his body buried in bags in the yard in December.
Court documents indicate Larissa Rodriguez told police that she and her boyfriend buried her son after finding him unresponsive. The records say Jordan's body showed signs of abuse.
His mother and her boyfriend have been charged with murder and other counts.
Thirty-four-year-old Larissa Rodriguez pleaded not guilty and remains in custody. Her boyfriend, 36-year-old Christopher Rodriguez, is jailed and set for arraignment next week.
