Healthcare Website Donates Funds on Behalf of MDLinx Physician Subscribers
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. (PRWEB) February 06, 2018
MDLinx, an informational healthcare website that provides free, unbiased, medically related content in 36 specialties, recently collaborated with its physician community to raise money for St. Jude Research Hospital for Children, via a physician survey. More than 1,000 physicians, over half of whom are primary care providers, responded to the survey. MDLinx awarded a $2,000 check to the St. Jude Research Hospital for Children in January.
“Thank you to the more than one thousand subscribers from MDLinx who contributed to St. Jude Research Hospital for Children by responding to our survey about holiday business practices,” states Aki Tomaru, CEO of M3 USA, parent company of MDLinx. “MDLinx is proud to offer the donation to St. Jude as one more way that we contribute to better health.”
MDLinx surveyed physicians regarding their typical method for handling their medical practice’s hours and operations during the holidays. In an era when physician burnout is reportedly on the rise and taking an increasingly substantial toll on the healthcare workforce, the survey revealed some potentially concerning trends.
More than half (60%) of practices remain open during the holidays, primarily to take care of patients. “People get sick every day,” said one respondent. Most physicians did not report feeling any detriment to staying open, indicating that it’s simply part of the business of being a physician.
Of the practices which do close for the holidays, physicians report using that time to spend with family, for vacation, or just to relax and recharge for the year ahead. While patient care was the primary reason to stay open during holidays, some practices remain open to catch up on administrative work or CME, which is one of many services MDLinx provides to physicians.
“Our mission at MDLinx is to efficiently provide doctors with the latest medical knowledge, in the format most comfortable to them, whether that’s on our website, or via newsletter, or social media,” Tomaru adds. “The information found on MDLinx.com is intended to help keep doctors informed so that they can make the best decisions possible, ultimately improving patient care.”
