
Bollywood director Shree Narayan Singh, who recently delivered a box office hit in the form of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to collaborate with television queen and filmmaker, Ekta Kapoor to bring out the inspiring story of The Milk Man of India – Dr Verghese Kurien. The biographical social drama will be based on his book, ‘I too had a dream.’ For those who don’t know, Dr Kurien Verghese, who is known as the father of white revolution, was also the co-founder of Amul. The social entrepreneur had won many accolades and awards for his great achievements. He was honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri (1965) Padma Bhushan (1966) and Padma Vibushan (1999) awards.
Talking about the collaboration, Ekta Kapoor said, “Balaji has always strived to bring interesting stories on screen, and the story of Dr Verghese Kurien is not only engaging but extremely inspiring too. I am delighted to collaborate with Shree Narayan Singh to tell the story of a true visionary.” Talking about the plot, director Singh said, “The film will talk about not just making profits and being a huge enterprise but also Dr Kurien’s role in empowering the general public, especially women, at the grass-root level. Dr Kurien was a visionary businessman, philanthropist and a great human. On the work front, director Shree Narayan Singh will soon start shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The movie deals with the issue of electricity bills and features Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam in lead roles. While Yami Gautam will essay the character of a lawyer in the film, the roles of Shahid and Shraddha are still under wraps. The film is all set to hit screens on August 31 this year.
