Hours after Twitter accounts of prominent politicians and an economist were hacked, anonymous hackers seem to have targeted the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi.

Earlier today, Twitter accounts of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Ram Madhav, economist Kaushik Basu, and Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta were hacked by an account identified as Turkish cyber army Ayyildiz Tim.

Bedi's twitter account @thekiranbedi has retweeted a tweet by an account identified as @ayt_noyan. The hacker seems to have targetted those sympathetic to the ruling BJP government.

While Anupam Kher's and Kaushik Basu's accounts seem to have been restored and the malicious messages have been wiped clean, Ram Madhav's account still contains a few hacked messages by the Turkish group. A message reading 'Caution: This account is temporarily restricted' is currently being displayed upon visiting the account of Swapan Dasgupta.

Anupam Kher's account was hacked after he opened a link that was sent in a direct message from the account of Swapan Dasgupta whose account was targetted by anonymous hackers.

"Got a DM yesterday from Mr Swapan Dasgupta's account about a link. A first from him. So opened it. Have spoken to Twitter already," said Anupam Kher.
