DL wrestlers pick up 17th dual victory
The Laker wrestling team picked up a Section 8AA victory over Thief River Falls and downed the hosts Fosston in a sweep of a triangular Thursday, Feb. 1.
Detroit Lakes defeated Thief River Falls 40-30 taking control in the middle weights. Fabyon Greer erased a six-point deficit to tie the match 13-13 with a pin of Cody Sele at 138-pounds.
Laker wrestlers picked up wins in four of the next five matches: Austin Baker by injury default, Braydon Ortloff with a 12-5 decision over the Prowlers’ all-time wins leader Josh Bernier; Isaiah Thompson and Noah Olds had first period pins to put space on the scoreboard.
Olds pinned Kevin Jensen in just 17 seconds. Thompson took down Mason Iverson in 41 seconds.
DL dropped only two matches in a 57-18 victory over Fosston as the Lakers improved to 17-5 in duals with one match remaining at Frazee (19-6) Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
