THANE: Investigators probing the illegal procurement of call detail records (CDRs) have stumbled upon few 'VIP' mobile numbers that bear series of the same digits five to six times in the 10-digit mobile number, usually procured only after paying a premium.

Police refused to disclose identities or professions of those whose 177 CDRs were found, terming it as "confidential". The first female detective, Rajani Pandit, arrested for illegal procurement of CDRs, had allegedly told acolytes that she sensed she was in big trouble after the arrest of four private detectives in the case. Seven accused have been arrested in the case and police hinted at more. Nishikant Karlikar
