BAGUIO CITY – Residents woke up shivering on Tuesday morning (Feb. 6) when the mercury plunged to 12 degrees Celsius, from 13 to 14 degrees that the city has been experiencing last week.

But this is warmer than the lowest temperature of 11.4 degrees this year which was recorded on Jan. 13, according to Ceferino Hulipas, chief meteorological officer of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) station in Baguio and Benguet.

He advised residents to keep themselves warm as the weather was expected to be colder in the coming days.

February is the usually the coldest month of the year in the country’s summer capital, Hulipas said.

It’s also the month when Baguio celebrates the annual Panagbenga (the Baguio Flower Festival).
