NAUGATUCK – Dorothy L. Salvi, 90, the widow of James P. Salvi, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at her home.
Dorothy was born in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Corentin M. and Mary B. (LeMeur) Duigou, and graduated in 1945 from Sacred Heart High School. Dorothy worked at Rita’s Bakery in Naugatuck and retired from Risdon Manufacturing Co., where she worked for 27 years without missing a day.
Dorothy lived with her daughter in West Haven for three years, where she was a member of the West Haven Senior Center. She was a Naugatuck resident for most of her life and was proud to volunteer at Naugatuck Town Hall and Howard Whittemore Memorial Library, and as a mentor at Andrew Avenue School.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert W. Salvi of Waterbury; her daughter, Carol Salvi-Beers and her husband, David H. Beers Jr.; her sister, Florence (Duigou) Duhamel; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Irene Parent, and her brother, Gaston Duigou.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please go directly to church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
