There's a shock for Michelle Connor next week when her biological son Alex Neesom returns to Coronation Street.

Liz McDonald is stunned discover that the new GP trainee on a placement at Weatherfield practice is none other than Alex.

Liz comes face-to-face with Alex, played by former Mount Pleasant actor James Burrows, next Wednesday.

And on Friday Alex, who is now known as Ali, ends up tending to Michelle's cut hand.

She tries to talk to her son, find out more about his placement at the medical centre and why he hasn't been in touch but Ali refuses to be drawn.

Alex, who was previously played by Dario Coates, has been away from the cobbles for 10 years - and it seems like he’s hiding a secret.

In harrowing scenes Michelle found out that Ryan the son she raised wasn’t her son after all after a mix-up at Weatherfield General.

Alex, was born on the same day and in the same hospital as Ryan but he was raised by Nick and Wendy Neeson who discovered the truth after taking a DNA test and tracked Michelle down.

A private detective discovered there was only one baby born on the same ward at the same time as Alex, and that was Ryan.

Alex moved in with Michelle for a while but when things didn’t work out he returned to Nick and Wendy and hasn’t been heard from since. And bad boy Ryan, who didn’t get on with Alex, is now in Ibiza working as a DJ after leaving Weatherfield in 2013.

The Bistro manager and former Rovers Return landlady was stalked and kidnapped by her ex Will Chatterton and she’s been supporting her man Robert Preston as he battles testicular cancer.
