Games medium to win over world: Scindia

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said that games are a medium to win over the world and players must take advantage of it.

Scindia was addressing the players after inaugurating the third State level ‘Mukhya Mantri Cup’ competition at Dhyanchand Hockey Parisar. Among those present on the occasion were Director Sports and Youth Welfare Upendra Jain, Joint Director Vinod Pradhan, other officers besides players and trainers from various divisions.

Sports Minister Scindia said that the ‘Mukhya Mantri Cup’ competition is being organized to make better opportunities in national and international competitions available for rural talents of the state and to promote traditional sports.

She told the players taking part in the state level competition that their next goal should be to enter Sports Academy so that they can become better players and improvise on their game through the Academy and bring pride to their district, state and country. She encouraged and congratulated the players to give their best performance.

Director Sports and Youth Welfare Upendra Jain said that the Mukhya Mantri Cup has been organized on the district and division level in which rural talents have taken part and given their best performance.

He said that competitions are being organized this year in the Under-16 Boys and Girls category in 6 games including Kabaddi, Volley Ball, Football, Karate, Wrestling and Athletics under the Mukhya Mantri Cup.

The Director Sports told that nearly 1234 players from 10 divisions are taking part in the Third Mukhya Mantri Cup organized this year. The girls/ boys teams who have bagged the first, second and third positions in the state level team games will be honoured with cash prizes worth Rs 1.75 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively and winners in individual games will be given cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
