A suspect was arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Kibler on Sunday.
Joshua Martin, 30, of Van Buren was arrested Sunday on suspicion of aggravated robbery, theft of property and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
The robbery took place at the Kibler Quick Stop at Arkansas 162 and Dogwood Loop at 10:54 a.m. Sunday, according to Kibler Police Chief Roger Green. Cash was stolen at gunpoint, although there were no injuries or fatalities. A boy was with his father in the store when the robbery took place.
"About two hours later, we receive a call that there is a firearm in the roadway at the intersection of May Branch and Kibler Highway," Green said. "A deputy went to locate the firearm that was in the road. Someone had picked it up at that time. He went to their house, and we're pretty positive this is going to be the weapon used in the robbery, and we feel like that Mr. Martin threw it out of his vehicle as he was westbound toward Van Buren after leaving the scene."
Green said the Kibler and Van Buren police departments and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office arrested Martin at Pavilion Apartments in Van Buren at 3:30 p.m. Sunday without incident.
A Crawford County Detention Center deputy said Martin's bond was set at $25,000 Monday morning.
