LAKE WALES — A corrections officer in DeSoto County has been charged with drunken driving in Lake Wales, the Polk County Sheriff's Office reported.
Kneisha Smith, 25, was charged with one count of DUI after witnesses reported seeing a car driving off the road and on the opposite side of the road early Sunday morning, deputies reported.
An arrest report shows that Smith was driving a 2012 beige 4-door Nissan on Central Avenue West near Westend Boulevard in Lake Wales about 2:10 a.m. Sunday.
When deputies stopped her, Smith completed a series of sobriety tests — all of which showed she was under the influence, deputies reported.
Later, a breath test showed her blood-alcohol-level was .155. The legal limit is .08.
Smith was charged and booked into the Polk County Jail. She was released after posting a $500 bond.
Smith works for the Florida Department of Corrections at the DeSoto County Correctional Institute.
