JAIPUR: A 22-year-old Haryana youth has been arrested by the Jurhera police in Bharatpur district for illegal carrying 50kg beef.
Police said the youth came to the area regularly from
Jamalgarh village of Haryana to sell beef in the Meo-dominated villages of Bharatpur.
According to police, the youth was stopped while travelling on a bike following a tip-off when he reached Kukarpuri village under Jurhera police station area on Monday. "We found about 50kg of beef kept in cartons on his motorbike. The youth, identified as Aleem (22), was detained and questioned. He confessed that it was brought from Jamalgarh village of Haryana, which is almost 20km from the police station area," said Jurhera station house officer (SHO) Ashutosh Charan.
During interrogation, police found that the accused has been bringing beef daily and selling the same in the local market near Jurhera. Police have also registered a case under various sections of the Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act, 1995.
