LOS ANGELES • After months of speculation about a possible pregnancy, reality television star Kylie Jenner announced on Sunday that she had given birth to a baby girl with rapper Travis Scott just three days before.

"I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions," Jenner, 20, said in a post on social media platforms Twitter and Instagram.

"My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress-free and healthy way I knew how."

She followed the announcement with the release of To Our Daughter, an 11-minute YouTube video that documented the entire pregnancy, including footage of her visiting the doctor with her 25-year-old boyfriend, listening to the baby's heartbeat and holding her newborn in the delivery room just after giving birth (above).

Jenner has parlayed her family's reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and a 101 million-strong Instagram following into a lucrative cosmetics line.

The arrival of her child quickly became the top trending topic on Twitter in the United States, surpassing #SuperBowlSunday just hours before the start of the big game. The video notched up more than 17 million views in the first 12 hours.

The Instagram post announcing the pregnancy quickly became the 10th most liked post of all time on the platform.
