Shell names Gulf vice president

Rick Tallant has been appointed vice president of Shell's Gulf of Mexico operations.

He will lead eight Shell-operated production hubs and co-ownership of two oil and gas producing assets, the company said in a news release.

Shell said Tallant will help to increase production of its Gulf operations by over 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2020 while protecting the environment and its employees.

He previously was asset manager for Shell’s operations in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and operations manager for the company's Ram Powell platform. He is a member of the New Orleans Business Alliance and supports local nonprofit organizations.

 

TGMC names February Employee of the Month

Kentdrell Jackson has been named Terrebonne General Medical Center's February Employee of the Month.

Jackson, a TGMC employee for over four years, works in the Food and Nutrition Department as a hospitality assistant.

He frequently delivers meals to patients’ rooms during their hospital stay and has earned many compliments from patients, physicians and medical staff for his compassionate nature and friendly personality, the hospital said in a news release.

He also trains new employees in his department and enjoys leading staff cheers and songs to maintain an optimistic energy in the kitchen, TGMC said.

 

State creates 'Certified Louisiana' logos

The Louisiana Agriculture Department has unveiled a new Certified Louisiana logo for products made or grown in the state.

Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain's office has new logo designs and a new website to try to boost visibility of the state's agricultural products.

To get the logo, a product has to be made, grown, manufactured, processed or produced in the state.

The department determines who gets the logo, which includes Certified Louisiana, Certified Cajun, Certified Creole or Certified Farm to Table. The agency charges a $25 application fee and a $30 registration fee for each approved logo.

 

Representative to discuss flood insurance

State Rep. Jerome Zeringue, R-Houma, will discuss the status of the National Flood Insurance Program at the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon on Feb. 27.

Zeringue is the executive director for the Louisiana Flood Risk Coalition, which was established in 2016 to advocate for reform of the National Flood Insurance Program.

The 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. luncheon will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, 142 Library Drive, Houma.

Admission is $25 with payment required in advance. The deadline for reservations is 4 p.m. Feb. 21. The cost after the deadline is $30. Register online at www.houmachamber.com.

 

Bayou Industrial Group to hold annual banquet

Phillip May, president/CEO of Entergy Louisiana, is the keynote speaker for the Bayou Industrial Group's annual banquet on March 13 at the Wellness Center of Thibodaux Regional.

May's presentation is titled "Powering Louisiana through Economic Development and Community Investment."

The 2018 BIG Achiever Awards will also be presented.

Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program begins at 7 p.m.

Executive director for Fletcher Foundation named

W. Chandler LeBoeuf has been named executive director of the Fletcher Technical Community College Foundation.

LeBoeuf has worked within the Louisiana Community and Technical College System before serving time at South Louisiana Community College in Student Engagement and Alumni Relations as well as Delgado Community College in Student Life.

Prior to that, Chandler worked in admissions, recruitment and financial aid for a for-profit institution. He has experience in enrollment management, student life and institutional advancement, Fletcher said. He also has a background in higher education and K-12 with sales, marketing, operations and online learning while working for The Princeton Review.

The Cameron Parish native received his bachelor of science degree from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University and his master's of education from Northeastern University.

Applications for the eighth annual LSU 100: Fastest Growing Tiger Businesses, hosted by LSU Executive Education, are now open.

The LSU 100 honors the 100 fastest-growing companies led or owned by an LSU graduate with annual revenues of $100,000 or more. The deadline to apply is May 31.

Ramsey Solutions’ Financial Peace University, created by financial expert Dave Ramsey, will be held Feb. 18 in Thibodaux.

The nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success, according to a news release.

FPU says it gives people the tools they need to change their behavior and succeed financially. Ramsey teaches lessons on budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing.
