Mountain View motorcycle officer hurt in traffic collision

Eastbound lanes of Central Expressway closed following crash at Shoreline Boulevard

MOUNTAIN VIEW — A motorcycle officer was injured in a collision on Central Expressway on Monday, according to police.

The crash was reported about 3:30 p.m. in eastbound lanes of Central Expressway at Shoreline Boulevard.

Police said the officer was taken to a hospital and was the only person hurt in the collision.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash, according to police.

Both lanes of eastbound Central Expressway, a major thoroughfare, were closed as a result of the collision.

Additional details about the crash, including the officer’s condition, were not immediately available.

“We want to take a moment to remind anyone on the road to be aware of their surroundings and to keep an eye out for bicyclists and motorcyclists traveling on Mountain View roads,” police said on Twitter.
