Two more ill in Penang after drinking coffee

KUALA LUMPUR • Malaysia's health ministry will conduct checks on samples of pre-mixed coffee taken off the shelves, Health Minister S. Subramaniam told reporters yesterday, after another two consumers fell ill in Penang.

The ministry had checked the coffee factory and could not find evidence related to the cases, he said, according to Bernama news agency.


Death toll of S. Korean hospital blaze now 43

SEOUL • The death toll from a devastating hospital blaze in South Korea rose to 43 yesterday after two men in their 80s succumbed to their injuries, officials said, making it the country's deadliest blaze for 15 years. A total of 149 people were injured in the Jan 26 fire at the Sejong hospital in Miryang.

Terror attackers and survivors to meet

JAKARTA • A reconciliation meeting between survivors of terror attacks and the perpetrators will be held in Indonesia this month, chief security minister Wiranto announced yesterday. People incarcerated for terror-related offences and ex-convicts will get the chance to apologise to survivors at the meeting, he said.
