I read the news on charging for the return of trays at hawker centres with mixed emotions (More hawker centres to charge deposit for food trays in productivity push; ST Online, Jan 29).
The team behind this move has to be praised for coming up with this idea to tackle the problem of people not returning trays.
But I feel sad that we need to provide a financial incentive to encourage civic behaviour.
