Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an army officer impostor when he went to their camp at Savar, outside the capital, to file a case against some locals on Sunday night.
Rab-4 officials handed over Habibur Rahman Shanto, of Narsingdi, to Ashulia police and sued him for fraud.
According to Maj Abdul Hakim, company commander of Rab-4, there has been a land dispute between a local real estate company and some locals at Niribili in Ashulia.
On Sunday, Habib impersonating as a captain of Bangladesh Army tried to intimidate the locals on behalf of the company. But the local inhabitants beat him. Later, Habib went to file a case against the locals and again introduced himself as a military officer. Upon crosschecking, the law enforcers found that he was lying, Hakim said. The real estate company officials were not available for comment.
