NATICK – A homeless woman broke into an apartment on Friday days after she was evicted and the same day she was forcibly removed there, police said.
Police arrested Barbara King, 57, on Friday at 8:29 p.m. after they found her hiding in the kitchen at 8 Vesta Road, spokeswoman Lt. Cara Rossi said Monday.
Last Monday, after a Natick District Court hearing, King was evicted from the apartment and she was escorted off the property. On Friday morning, the landlord discovered King had returned, and police came and again escorted her off the property and told her not to return.
That night, a neighbor heard someone breaking glass and called police.
“He (neighbor) was on the back deck when he heard breaking glass followed by a loud banging,” Rossi said.
Police arrived and went into the apartment. They found King hiding behind some counter doors in the kitchen while sitting on the floor.
“She said she broke in because she was freezing and had no place to go,” Rossi said.
Police arrested King, and charged her with breaking and entering, malicious destruction of property and trespassing.
After she was released from the police station, police gave King a voucher so she could get a hotel room for the night, Rossi said.
King was scheduled to be arraigned in Natick District Court on Monday. However, she did not appear and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
