Astonished by hypocrisy of many Republicans

I continue to be astonished by the deafening silence both of our local conservative elites, and indeed the majority of Republicans, in the face of unprecedented assaults on our constitutional system.

Our system has been based on both codified laws, the Constitution, as much as by norms and conventions of compromise and negotiation. These conventions have been thoroughly eroded for years by Republicans and, yes, some Democrats, and have now been utterly decimated by our really smart president. This is exactly how democracies are undermined and destroyed.

But the vast majority of Republicans, who love our country, cherish our Constitution, and certainly respect our justice department and law and order officials, are mute as we we watch this calamity unfold. I challenge my Republican neighbors and colleagues to imagine if Hillary Clinton was president, and gave her approval to release classified information (the emails), against the express wishes of her own justice Department and FBI, to provide cover as an excuse to end an investigation into the (undisputed) meddling of a foreign power in our election, and which might show her campaign colluded to help get her elected.

Further I challenge you to imagine she had paid off a porn star to suppress her illicit affair after giving birth to Chelsea. Would you not be howling? Your hypocrisy is not only deafening, it is dangerous.
