MINNEAPOLIS — The Cleveland Browns have hired former Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan as a pre-draft consultant, a Browns team source confirmed.

McCloughan, a highly regarded talent evaluator in NFL circles, will work closely with Browns general manager John Dorsey. The pair once worked together in Green Bay under former Packers general manager Ron Wolf.

However, a second source said McCloughan isn’t working exclusively with the Browns. Instead, he’s still running his own scouting service firm and is consulting with other clients.

The former Redskins general manager formed his private agency after he was fired “for cause” by Washington on March 9, 2017. McCloughan, who was two years and two months into a four-year contract, filed a grievance with the NFL last summer and testified under oath in October to lawyers representing the team during the discovery phase of the process.
