Last fall Congress voted 517 to 5 (419-3 in the House and 98-2 in the Senate) to impose additional sanctions on Russia. President Donald Trump signed the law. His CIA director, Mike Pompeo, just said he expects Russia to continue interfering with U.S. elections in 2018. However, on the day Trump was required by law to impose the sanctions on Russia, he refused, just as Vladimir Putin would want.

Not enforcing laws that Trump’s foreign masters don’t like is a vastly greater abuse of executive power than anything President Barack Obama was accused of, even by his fiercest critics.

American soldiers fought and died to preserve our democracy.  Trump’s failure to faithfully execute the law is a disrespectful betrayal of their sacrifice.
