When The CW announced that The 100 wasn't returning until April, we're not going to lie, our hearts broke a little. After last season's cliff-hanger ending, this hiatus was already unbearably long. Now we know it's going to be even longer than usual.
But it's not as though we haven't gotten a few juicy tidbits here and there to keep us from totally starving from lack of The 100 in our lives. In fact, details about Season 5 are really starting to come together and paint a very intriguing picture for what's next after that shocking six-year time jump.

All our favorites will reunite. With Bellamy (Bob Morley), Raven (Lindsey Morgan), Murphy (Richard Harmon), Monty (Christopher Larkin), Harper (Chelsey Reist) and Echo (Tasya Teles) still trapped on the rocket and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos), Abby (Paige Turco), Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) and Indra (Adina Porter) trapped in the bunker, we're entering this season with all our favorite characters cut off from each other. It doesn't take a genius to know that this separation won't last forever, but it's still heartening to see pics from the set that show Bellamy, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Octavia back together again. We still don't know when it will happen, but we can tell that people will be sporting some chic new looks when they resurface.

— Jason Rothenberg (@JRothenbergTV) December 29, 2017New prisoners are on the way. It's been a few years since the Hundred landed on the Ground, but now there's a new ship of prisoners docking down. The ship approaching Clarke in the final moments of Season 4 is a prison ship owned by the Eligius Corporation, a mining company from before the first nuclear apocalypse. That's right. Before the apocalypse.
The travelers onboard the Gagarin prison transport ship are people from our own time who have been in a cryogenic sleep for the past 100 years. Most of the passengers are prisoners -- but not like the innocent juvenile delinquents the Hundred were when they first landed. There are some real bad seeds onboard, meaning we should expect some major clashes between the Eligius prisoners and our heroes.
Motherhood will have changed Clarke. The time she spent on the ground since the radiation wave will have hardened Clarke even more, making her fiercely protective of her newly adopted daughter, Madi. Now having a daughter of her own will not only shift Clarke's priorities, but also make her more appreciative of everything her own mother Abby did in the hopes of protecting Clarke along the way, so we can only imagine how Clarke and Abby's relationship might improve even further upon reuniting.

The Spanish actor will play Robert McCreary, a mysterious former enforcer for a crime syndicate. According to reports, McCreary will be particularly ruthless, but we're betting Octavia could take him down if need be.
You can expect tons of other new faces too. In addition to McCreary, the prision ship is carrying a whole batch of new faces including Vinson (Mike Dopoud), a ruthless serial killer, and Charmaine Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic), a former military strategist. Jordan Bolger will also play Zeke Shaw, a quick-witted adrenaline junkie who willingly joined the Eligius mission to explore the universe, so at least it sounds like there might be one friendly -- or at least non-murdery -- new character on board!
And since it's been reported that there will be some romance brewing between one of our heroes and a ship member, we're going to put all our money on Zeke right now. He does sound like he'd be a great match for Raven, right?

— Jason Rothenberg (@JRothenbergTV) February 2, 2018Expect a lot more Echo, for better or for worse. Ahead of Season 5, Tasya Teles was promoted to series regular. That means viewers will be seeing a lot more of the Ice Nation warrior, which probably isn't the best news for Bellarke shippers. Echo and Bellamy (Bob Morley) definitely were showing some major chemistry in the Season 4 finale (even creator Jason Rothenberg said they "have always had sparks"), so don't be surprised if when the show picks up six years later Bellamy and Echo will have taken their friendship to the next level.
There will be flashbacks. With the finale jumping six years ahead, viewers have tons of questions about how we got to the events of the new season. While the bulk of Season 5 will be focused on progressing the story forward from that major finale cliff-hanger, Rothenberg did assure us that "we'll see the key moments" that went down during the intervening years.
Bellamy and Clarke's relationship will be key. Although Rothenberg wouldn't confirm whether or not Bellamy and Clarke would finally explore a romantic relationship this season, he did tell fans that they should expect tons of Bellarke goodness this season. "They're really the heart of the show on some level. It's been their story since the beginning and it's their story today," he told us over the summer.
The 100 premieres Tuesday, April 24 at 9/8c on The CW.
