PORTER — Police are investigating the theft of a $75,000 semitrailer truck from a local truck stop.
According to a police report, the red 2013 International Harvester with Ohio license plates was parked at the Travel Centers north plaza, 1600 W. U.S. 20 on Jan. 14 after suffering a mechanical failure.
When a partner in the trucking firm DF Carriers of Toledo, Ohio arrived there Saturday, the vehicle could not be located. The man checked various other truck stops, towing firms and repair garages before reporting the missing truck to police.
Police said the truck is equipped with a GPS unit, but has not returned a signal for tracking.
