Wasting no time since the Government expressed its willingness to adjust its own made domicile policy and went on drafting a committee of BJP MLAs to study the issue, Opposition Congress has upped the ante. The party has not only given deadline of March 31 to declare a reformed policy but also questioned the change of heart.
Addressing a press conference along with JPCC president Ajoy Kumar, senior party leader and former Minister KN Tripathi first termed the policy shift as win for the party and struggle.
“The Chief Minister all the time says ‘pran jayi par vachan na jayi’ and has put posters claiming this across Ranchi. But he is withdrawing from his words every day. When we organised protest over the faulty policy he crushed it and placed us in jail. Now when his foundation has shaken, his MLAs raised the issue with him just to control the damage. All these MLAs and Ministers were part of the decision making. Why did they keep mum then,” asked Tripathi on Sunday.
The leader was baffled over the decision of the Government to review the contentious policy against which as many as 24 party MLAs had approached the CM and raised the issue inside the Assembly as well. The policy announced about two years from now keeps out 11 districts of the State from the rest 13 declared as scheduled, where outsiders are allowed to apply for class III and IV jobs. The difference has been a cause of resentment and parties in Opposition have been on feet demanding for a recall.
“The softness being shown now is nothing but a lollypop ahead of the upcoming mayoral poll. They want to befool the people. Due to their faulty and discriminatory policy, thousands of local youths remained jobless.
