An Amtrak train carrying 139 travelers met with an accident with a shipment train in South Carolina on Sunday taking the lives of two people and wounding more than 100, local cops affirmed.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 after which the train got derailed in Cayce close to Columbia.
As per Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, “All travelers had been rescued from the train. Authorities added that though 5,000 gallons of petroleum fall down during the collision. The Red Cross society has been giving assistance to sufferers.
The incident took place after another Amtrak train carrying various dozen Republican lawmakers, involving US House Speaker Paul Ryan met with an accident with a garbage truck in Virginia. At Least one person died and injured was sent to the hospital for treatment.
Prior, three people died when an Amtrak train derailed in Washington State in the month of December. The mishap occurred close to the city of Tacoma.
Amtrak president and chief executive Richard Anderson stated, “CSX had lined and padlocked the switch off the mainline to the siding, causing the collision.”

As per the reports, among 116 wounded, two are in serious condition following the collision that took place about 8 km southwest of Columbia.
