A 76-year-old Cumberland man suspected of crimes against children has been charged in Cambridge Municipal Court.

Ashley L. Hall of 600 E. Main St. was charged with compelling prostitution and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Additional charges may be filed pending possible indictment by the Guernsey County grand jury.

Hall remained in the Guernsey County Jail on Saturday with bond set at $500,000, no 10 percent allowed.

Hall was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by Guernsey County Sheriff's deputies after a search warrant was executed at his home just before noon that day.

Acting in concert with the sheriff's office were investigators of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Crimes Against Children unit of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.

During questioning by Lt. Jason Mackie, Hall reportedly admitted to inducing children into having sex in his presence as well as to rewarding them with transportation, cigarettes and cash, according to reports by other media.

During his appearance in court on Friday, Hall was found to be indigent and Atty. Jack Blakeslee was appointed as his legal counsel.

Hall requested he be granted a preliminary hearing in open court and the hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m.
