ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- An Orange City man pleaded guilty Monday to having sexual contact with and taking nude photos of a young girl in the past three years.

As part of a plea agreement, Scott McAdam, 56, pleaded guilty to lascivious acts with a child and sexual exploitation of a child. Both charges carry 10-year prison sentences. It will be up to the sentencing judge to decide whether the sentences will be served concurrently -- at the same time -- or consecutively -- back to back for a 20-year sentence.

District Judge Duane Hoffmeyer scheduled sentencing for March 5 in Sioux County District Court.

In exchange for McAdam's guilty plea, Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle will dismiss 20 other sex-related charges filed against McAdam.

McAdam admitted at Monday's hearing that from May 1 to Aug. 1 he had inappropriate contact with a girl who was under age 14. He also admitted to taking nude photos of her with his cellphone between Jan. 1, 2015 and Nov. 14.

Once McAdam completes his prison sentence, he will be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life. He will also serve a special sex offender sentence in which he will be on lifetime parole. If he were to violate terms of the special sentence, he could be returned to prison.
