Many years ago, when I was in graduate school in Massachusetts, abortions were illegal there. When a student I knew became pregnant, she went to a back-alley abortionist. The result was the termination not only of the pregnancy, but of her life as well. It was was a tragedy for all concerned.
Passing a law against them will not end abortions, but will result in relying on dangerous methods. I sympathize with those who are offended by the idea of abortion, but not with their efforts to return us to the bad old days of having no alternative to crude methods and quack abortionists.
