DURBAN – National First Division (NFD) outfit Royal Eagles have fired head coach Kostadin Papic and assistant coach Vladislav Heric.
Independent Media has been reliably informed that Papic and Heric have been shown the door. Roger Sikhakhane will take over the reins.
"The clubs bosses were not happy with the results, and they have since taken the decision to fire Papic and Heric. Roger Sikhakhane will take over. He will commence his duties on Wednesday," a source stated.
Papic and Heric joined Eagles in December, taking over from Zipho Dlangalala.
Eagles have changed coaches a lot this season. They started with Allan Freese, but he was fired because of bad results.
The club then roped in Dlangalala, but he also failed to deliver and was shown the door.
Eagles are struggling this season. They were thumped 4-0 this past weekend by log-leaders Highlands Park.
Eagles are languishing third from the bottom. Sikhakhane has since vacated his position as the technical director at Chippa United.
He has a wealth of experience in the NFD, and Thanda Royal Zulu were promoted last season under his watch.
Sikhakhane has also previously led Chippa United to promotion via the playoffs.
An attempt to get hold of Eagles general manager James Dlamini proved futile as his phone rang unanswered.
Sikhakhane's first assignment will be the Nedbank Cup last-32 clash against ABC Motsepe League outfit Happy Wanderers at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont in Durban.
