The 2018 Colorado State football recruiting class proves that few bonds are tighter than family.

The Rams are in position to add four younger brothers of players from last year’s team. Three were brought on during the early signing period and a fourth is committed to sign on Wednesday (National Signing Day).

Here is a closer look at each CSU newcomer and their older Ram brother:

ATH Thomas Pannunzio — Committed to CSU on Sunday … Totaled 20 touchdowns last fall at Pueblo South and won the Class 4A state championship … Plays receiver, cornerback and returns punts/kicks.

TE Isiah Pannunzio — Signed as part of CSU’s 2016 recruiting class … Redshirted as a freshman … Played in six games at tight end and on special teams last fall.


DL Devin Phillips — Signed with CSU on Dec. 20 … A four-star rated recruit, per ESPN … Chose CSU over scholarship offers from Miami, TCU, Texas Tech and others.

OL Joctavis Phillips — Signed as part of CSU’s 2017 class … Played in one game last season as a backup offensive lineman …  A former 30-game starter at Neville High School (Monroe, La.).


LB Zach Schlager — Signed with CSU on Dec. 20 … Also starred at quarterback in high school … Received recruiting interest from Nebraska, Kansas State and Missouri.

S Jake Schlager — Signed as part of CSU’s 2013 recruiting class … Full-time starter his final two seasons … Appeared in a CSU-record 56 career games.


TE Trey McBride — Signed with CSU on Dec. 20 … A three-star recruit, per 24/7 Sports … Chose CSU over scholarship offers from California, Colorado, Kansas State and others.

DL Toby McBride —  Signed as part of CSU’s 2016 recruiting class … Played in every game as a freshman with 32 tackles … Suffered a season-ending back injury in 2017 after appearing in four games.
