STROUDSBURG — Charged with stealing more than $500,000 over nine years from St. Luke's Church, Dawn Stevens of Reeders has been sentenced to a year of intermediate punishment, involving incarceration and treatment, to be followed by four years of probation.
Stevens was sentenced Monday, the day after her 60th birthday, after pleading guilty to a felony theft charge.
She was the church's bookkeeper and 17-year employee as of 2015, when irregularities were found in the church's financial records. These irregularities led to an investigation revealing the amount stolen over a period of time.
