NORTH BALTIMORE — Joyce Brown, age 91, passed away at home on February 3, 2018. She was born on September 4, 1926, in Toledo to Orville and Hazel (Warden) Foreman.
On May 28, 1955, she married Galen Brown and moved to North Baltimore.
Together they raised three children: Byron (Julie), Denise Harris (Jim), and Garry (Kathleen). Her beloved grandchildren are Rachel Brown (Chapel Hill, NC), Lindsay Brown (Moscow, ID), Eric Brown (Pittsburgh, PA), Tyler Brown (New Albany, OH), and Amanda Brown (New Albany, OH). Joyce is pre-deceased by her husband Galen and her brother Fred Foreman.
Joyce was a 1944 graduate of DeVilbiss High School (Toledo). During her early years in North Baltimore, Joyce was active in the North Baltimore Garden Club, Colonial Club and Bridge Club.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her pastimes were reading, traveling, and nature. She loved northern Michigan, where as a young woman she water skied, boated, and fished. In the 1980s, she and Galen built a cottage in northern Michigan where they mushroom hunted and watched wildlife.
Since 1993, Joyce spent her winters in St. Pete Beach, Florida, where she was surrounded by great friends from the Sanseair condo. While in Ohio, she loved to dine out with a group of friends that she called the “Golden Girls.” And in the summer, she could always be found in her home swimming pool between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. with her friend, Mary Brumbaugh.
A private family memorial will be held this summer at her northern Michigan cottage. Memorial contributions may be given to North Baltimore Public Library.
Arrangements are entrusted to SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
