A Deltona man was pistol whipped and his family forced into a bedroom by suspects in a home invasion, Volusia County sheriff's deputies said.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the late Sunday night armed home invasion, said sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant.

Deputies were called to the Lullwater Street home at 10:36 p.m. where a 34-year-old resident told them that three suspects forced their way into his home after he answered a knock at the back door.

The victim was pistol whipped in the head by one suspect, who demanded money, investigators said. The man's wife and children were then ordered into a bedroom and were unharmed, Gant said.

"The victim said he didn’t know the suspects and has never seen them before," Gant said.

The suspects escaped with a television, jewelry and cash, investigators said.

The victim was treated on scene for a cut in his head. Detectives are actively investigating this case, Gant said.
