‘We are going to kill you’ Sick letter sent to Brexit voter, 80, revealed by Zac Goldsmith

The MP shared a photo of the shocking and threatening letter, signed ‘The Real 48 Per Cent’, on Twitter earlier today. 

He said the letter was sent to a resident, who is a pensioner, in his Richmond and North Kingston constituency this morning. 

The letter begins: “We were born in Britain. We live in the UK. We are European.”

It then warns the unnamed constituent, who Mr Goldsmith said it 80 years old, there will be fatal “consequences” for “stoking the fires of Brexit”. 

The letter, which is riddled with spelling and grammatical error, continues: “If you attempt to take away someone’s identity. There are consequences.

“We have watched have you have stoked the fires of Brexit and led us to this moment.”

Chillingly, the 80-year-old Leave voter is then issued with a death threat by the unnamed author of the letter. 

The note concludes: “You can no longer be tolerated. We are coming for you. We are going to kill you.”

Mr Goldsmith passed the letter on to the Metropolitan Police after being made aware of it today. 

He told the Sun: "It’s very shocking for anyone to receive a letter like that, let alone a lady in her eighties.

"I have handed it to the police who have assured me they will do what they can to identify the vile person behind it.”

Mr Goldsmith himself has been subjected to horrific abuse related to Brexit.

At Christmas he received a card signed by a number of sick critics urging him to have a "cancerous New Year".
