Arambagh face Sk Jamal today

Arambagh KS are looking forward to pulling off another surprise to reach the final of the Independence Cup as they square off against Sheikh Jamal in the first semifinal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

Arambagh, who finished eighth in the league with just five wins from 22 matches, shattered the dreams of Federation Cup and premier league champions Abahani with an imposing a 3-0 victory in the quarterfinals. The charges of Maruful Haque are now up against Sheikh Jamal, who are also in good form having beaten Brothers Union 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

As the participating teams are only eligible to field local players, there is very little between teams to tip one as favourites, which was pretty evident from Abahani's defeat against Arambagh.

Arambagh have been playing with a youthful side which features the likes of Mohammad Jewel, Abu Sufian Sufil, Mohammad Arif and Shariar Bappy, who have impressed with their performances. They will certainly try to cause an upset against Sheikh Jamal.
