DHAKA: Two women have been reportedly gang-raped in city’s Banani and Turag areas. One of them was invited to birthday party in a Banani posh hotel and later gang-raped there.
At least three people were arrested in this connection.
The two victim women were sent to the OCC (One Stop Crisis Centre) in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for test in the early morning on Monday (February 05).
Duty officer of Banani Police Station Abdul Jabbar told Banglanews that one Rubel Ahmed, 28, along with his friends raped his girlfriend in whole night in a guest house of Banani.
The girl was invited to a birthday at a Star Guest House on Road No 65 at Block-D of Banani at about 8:00 pm on Saturday (February 03). Later, she was gang-raped by Rubel and others, said the police official.
The victim girl filed a case in this connection with Banani Police Station in the night on Sunday (February 04). Police arrested Rubel and his friend Razib in the night.
In May in 2017, two private university students were raped during a birthday celebration at a posh hotel of Banani.
On the other hand, a 17-year old RMG worker was ganged raped by one Jahidul, 20, and his two friends at Dour area of Turag. The incident of gang-rape took place in Jahidul’s residence. His two accused friends are- Sanjid, 21, and Ashik, 20.
The victim girl filed a case with Turag Police Station in the night on Sunday (February 04). Later, police arrested Jahidul, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Turag Police Station Md Nurul Mostakim.
