Maybe the Patriots' luck is changing.
Seemingly the beneficiary of every controversial call in the playoffs since the turn of the century, the Patriots had a 50/50 call go against them at a key point in the third quarter of Super Bowl LII.
Eagles rookie Corey Clement, a New Jersey native, caught a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone with three defenders around him on a third down to give his team a 29-19 lead.

NBC broadcasters Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth clearly thought it the original call of touchdown would be overturned to an incomplete pass because it appeared that Clement might have lost possession with the ball moving in his arms before his football stepped out of bounds. All scoring plays are reviewed under NFL rules.
Michaels said similar plays were called incomplete in the regular season.
One of the big fears for the NFL was that the Super Bowl would be decided on a controversial catch/no-catch play. The catch rule will be rewritten by next season, commissioner Roger Goodell hopes.
