"Food Glorious Food!" This song from the musical "Oliver" fits the theme for Deerfield this month. Of course, all of us enjoy a great meal, so why not make it a community effort and join us for the following events ...
On Feb. 18, the Deerfield Fire Department will host its annual chili cookoff. You can bring your favorite chili to the Deerfield Town Hall between 11 a.m. and noon. Chili will be served from noon until 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per person — all you can eat.
The Wild Game Dinner is back this year. It will be held on Feb. 24 at the Deerfield Town Hall. There will be two seatings — 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m.
This is usually a sold-out event, so get your tickets early. Tickets can be obtained by calling Ralph Coss at 330-607-2442 or Roy Wilson at 330-947-3392. The cost is a $15 donation. This event is sponsored by the Charity Masonic Lodge.
If you can't get into the Wild Game Dinner, then perhaps spaghetti is more your style. The same night, Feb. 24, from 4 to 9 p.m., the Deerfield Friends Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Donations are accepted and the money raised will go toward future service projects, missions trips and youth outreach events.
The night before this, you can attend a community movie event at the Friends church from 7 to 9 p.m. They will be showing the movie "Trolls." This is a free event and of course will include popcorn. For more information, call the church at 330-584-6777.
We can’t talk about dinners in Deerfield and exclude the monthly dinners given by the Deerfield United Methodist Church. The next one is scheduled for March 2. Dinner is served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This dinner typically takes place on the first Friday of each month.

A reminder to all if you have an event coming up. The town hall books up fast for the months of June and July. If you are thinking about using the hall for a wedding or graduation, give the hall a call soon at 330-654-2980. And if you need stamps to put on your invites, pick them up at the Deerfield Post Office. Keep in mind that first class postage has gone up to 50 cents. (They have a really pretty love stamp.)

Well, I guess the groundhog saw his shadow so we are in for a few more weeks of winter. Try to keep warm and fill up at one or more of the above mentioned dinners.
