BJP President Amit Shah in his maiden speech in the Rajya Sabha, delivering the motion of thanks to the President read the report card of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah, thumping his chest, over innumerable achievements, targetted Congress in his speech over their continuous loss in elections and said, “Some parties are now finding victory in losing elections.” Shah said that the BJP government under Modi has ended the practice of caste, dynasty and appeasement from Indian politics.
Discussing the vote of thanks, Leader of Opposition in Upper House, Ghulam Nabi Azad slammed the Modi government and said that they have just changed the names of schemes launched by Congress government and repackaged it as their own. Raising the issue of rapes in Haryana, Azad said, “BJP ruled states like Haryana has become the hub of criminal activities, gruesome rapes are happening with minor and innocent girls. What kind of New India are we developing?” “If this is the new India return us our old India,” said Azad.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day following the condolence meeting for Kairana MP Hukum Singh who died on Saturday.
