An armed and masked gunman robbed a Hispanic novelty store in west Medford on Monday morning before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and police are looking for tips to nab him, authorities said.
The robbery occurred at 10:28 a.m. at Novedades La Mexicana at 2138 W. Main St., and no injuries were reported, according to the Medford Police Department.
Wearing a hooded sweatshirt with camouflage mask hiding part of his face, the man entered the business when no customers were there and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the female clerk, police said. He fled on foot toward nearby Reager Street, police said.
Officers flooded the Reager Street area, including a house where several people were arrested on unrelated warrants, but did not locate the robber, Medford police Lt. Justin Ivens said.
Police believe the gunman fled through a field behind The Black Bird Shopping Center, Ivens said. He is considered armed and dangerous, Ivens said.
The robber was described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s standing 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants or cargo pants, black-and-white tennis shoes and black Nike gloves. He also appeared to wear a black beanie beneath his hood and carried a black satchel.
Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect was urged to telephone Medford police at 541-774-2230.
