Lakme Fashion Week 2018: Diana Penty Says There's a Way Bigger Market For Models Internationally

Bollywood actor Diana Penty, who has a well-known fashion runway model before she made her big screen debut with Cocktail in 2012, said that the models in India don't get their due credit. "Unfortunately, not so much due here as maybe they would get internationally. As there's a way bigger market for models internationally and you can do much more as a model. You can reach supermodel heights and levels. It's like that's a whole other ball game," she told News18 on the sidelines of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018.



The actor, who has worked in films like Happy Bhaag Jaayegi and Lucknow Central, added that even though such opportunities aren't available in India yet, the industry has come a long way from how it was when she started. "We don't have those opportunities here unfortunately, but having said that, we've come a long way here. We've become more professional than when I started out and now when I'm looking at it now, I can see the difference. There is still a huge future for the young girls today. They all have potential to work in other markets as well and that's how it should be- models usually go to different countries and model there as well, I feel that's part of the modelling culture," she said.

Penty turned showstopper for designer Punit Balana's 'Rose Garden' collection and sashayed down the runway in a three layered skirt with geometrical prints matched with a tube top and an embellished shrug. The collection spanned from shades of creams, whites and maroons and was rich in rose and peacock hand block and digital prints.



She also shared that while it's a full circle now, she misses the hush and rush of fashion shows. "It's been a while now since I've modelled, but it feels great. When I'm backstage, I actually feel like I miss all the hustle bustle and the stress that goes into making a show. I meet a lot of my friends who I used to model with back then," said Penty.
