We Americans have the highest gun ownership in the world but had fewer shooting victims per million population than Norway, Finland, Slovakia, Israel and Switzerland, according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in a recent year.

On the other hand, in the past few years, gun-free U.S. campuses yielded 11 killed and 15 wounded in six mass murders.

I would rather have concealed carry than open carry, as open carry is a distraction in public places — like someone clomping down the baking aisle in downhill boots.
