KASARAGOD:  The police have arrested two youths accused in the murder of 60-year-old Subaida who was found murdered inside her house near Periye on January 17.

The 22-member police team supervised by Kanhangad Deputy Superintendent of Police K Damodaran rounded up the prime accused K M Abdul Khader, alias Khader, 26, and P Abdul Azeez, alias Bava Azeez, 23, from Madhur locality.

The duo, charged under provisions of IPC sections 302 (murder) and 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death), were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Kanhangad on Friday and were remanded in judicial custody for two weeks, V K Vishwombharan, Bekal Circle Inspector of police, who heads the investigation, said.

Director General of Police (North) Rajesh Diwan said the group had visited Subaida on January 16 under the guise of looking for an accommodation near her residence. They again visited her on January 17. As she went inside the kitchen to serve lime juice to the visitors, the accused suffocated her and sped away with 5.50 sovereign gold ornaments, he said.
