Corey Clement touchdown: Super Bowl 52 thrown into controversy – was THIS a catch?

COREY CLEMENT scored a controversial touchdown for the Philadelphia Eagles – but should it have counted?

Super Bowl 52 was plunged into controversy after Corey Clement's touchdown was allowed to stand despite strong calls to overturn the decision.

The Philadelphia Eagles running back made a spectacular play to grab the ball in the endzone, but the much-discussed catch rule seemed to nullify the magic moment.

The ball appeared to wobble inside Clement's arms, suggesting it wasn't under total control, before stepping out of bounds.

While many argued the catch should stand, there has been outrage at the lack of consistency over the definition of a catch.

SUPER BOWL CONSPIRACY THEORY CIRCLES

A SUPER BOWL conspiracy theory is circling after easy kicks were missed at the US Bank Stadium.

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott failed to convert in the first quarter after his side took a 9-3 lead with an early touchdown.

And it appeared the missed-kick bug then took over the Patriots when Stephen Gostkowski couldn’t convert a 26-yarder, hitting the left upright himself.

The match is being played indoors, meaning wind is not a problem for the special teams.

And now a commentator from the host broadcaster in the US has a theory as to why they were missed.

It concerns the three logos painted on the field at the US Bank Stadium and the effect those have on a kicker.

The commentator says the way they were painted on made the kickers 'unsteady' and contributed to them missing.
