Bakom reports CHF 1.3 billion income from radio/TV licence fees in 2016

Monday 5 February 2018 | 10:24 CET | News

Swiss regulator Bakom published distribution of the proceeds from the public radio and TV licence fees for usage by the public broadcaster SRG, as well as private broadcasters, including local radios and private TVs. The total proceeds amount to around CHF 1.3 billion a year. The biggest part of that amount is used for SRG (CHF 1.24 billion in 2016). The usage of the funds is determined by the Federal Council.

In mid-2016, the share of private broadcasters on the proceeds from radio and TV licences was increased from 4 to 5 percent and in autumn 2017, another increase from 2019 to 6 percent has been adopted.
