A naxal was killed in an encounter with the police today in a forest area in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district during the day-long bandh called by ultras in the Dandkaranya region.
The incident occurred in Etapalli area at around 3 P.M when ultras opened fire at a patrolling team of C-60 commandos, the Gadchiroli Police said in a release. "After the gun battle, the Maoists fled while leaving the body of a male ultra behind," it said. An 8 MM rifle and articles of daily use of naxals were recovered from the spot, according to the release.
Police are trying to identify the slain naxal.
